Wings Over Chicago #WNBA

Dallas at Chicago is exactly the kind of matchup where our ratings split hard from the market.

The game opened Dallas -1.5, and money has already shown up on the Wings. The number is now sitting mostly at Dallas -3, with some -3.5 already showing in the market. The total is listed at 169.5, which tells you exactly what kind of game this could become if Dallas gets rolling.

The Sky have been competitive early, and they deserve some credit for that. They have shiny new pieces, some energy, and enough early-season fight to make people think there may be something here. But let’s not overcomplicate it: this is not a playoff roster, and with Rickea Jackson out for the season, Chicago’s ceiling takes a major hit.

Dallas is a different conversation entirely.

The Wings are starting to look like the team we expected — fast, explosive, deep, and increasingly comfortable in Jose Fernandez’s system. The first few games had some rough edges, but that was always part of the process with a reshaped roster and a new structure. Now the pieces are starting to make sense.

Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale already look like they understand how to thrive together. That matters. There was always a question of balance, but so far they appear to be feeding off each other rather than getting in each other’s way. Both are creating, both are scoring, and both are settling into real leadership roles.

Then there is Azzi Fudd, who keeps getting better each game. That is the scary part for the rest of the league. She does not need to force it. She just needs to keep stacking possessions, finding rhythm, and letting the game come to her.

And eventually, Alanna Smith is going to figure it out too.

This Dallas team is going to be an absolute handful. The talent is real enough to push the Wings toward the conversation with Las Vegas and New York sooner than people realize.

Chicago may hang around for a while. The Sky have enough scrap to make it interesting.

But Dallas has top-dog energy, and that shows up tonight.
