Atlanta Dream Are the Team to Beat

As we enter the WNBA postseason, one thing is obvious: there is no perfect team.

All eight playoff teams are good. Every one of them is also flawed. That makes this postseason wide open, but it is becoming increasingly clear that the Atlanta Dream are the team best positioned to win the championship.

The market has not caught up yet. Atlanta is still the fourth choice at +800, and that number is attractive.

The Dream are the most complete team in the field on both ends of the floor, and they are the only team with six high-quality, healthy rotation players who all look ready for the postseason.

The addition of DeWanna Bonner is starting to look like a difference-maker. She has shown a willingness to do a little bit of everything, using her experience and basketball intelligence to help Atlanta win in whatever way the game demands. It has been impressive to watch her fit into this team so naturally.

Naz Hillmon is another player who understands exactly what her role is. She finds ways to contribute, often in the moments that matter most.

Then there is the big four.

Jordin Canada remains one of the league’s more underrated point guards. She may not get the attention some of the bigger names receive, but she gives Atlanta stability and control.

Angel Reese is playing the best basketball of her life and has developed into a bona fide superstar. She joins Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard as elite competitors capable of taking over games themselves.

That is what separates Atlanta.

This team is built to win now.

There are still fair questions about whether Karl Smesko can guide this group all the way to a championship, but the way Atlanta is playing and gelling entering the postseason suggests the answer may be yes.

At 8-to-1, the Dream are absolutely worth a bet.
