AZZI Is It
Azzi Fudd is the correct number one pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft, and the Dallas Wings shouldn’t overthink it for a second. Fudd’s game is complete on both ends of the floor. She’ll walk into the league as one of, if not the, best three-point shooters in the world, but that label alone undersells her. She scores at all three levels, reads defenses at an elite level, and has the strength and balance to finish through contact. Defensively, she’s gone from solid to legitimately disruptive, with sharper footwork, better anticipation, and a real commitment to competing on every possession.
Some critics have bizarrely tried to tag her as a “one-trick pony,” which only makes sense if that one trick is “being awesome at basketball.” Her ability to create her own shot isn’t a serious red flag for WNBA scouts; surrounded by pro spacing and talent, her handle and shooting gravity become even more dangerous. On top of the on-court package, you’re getting an A-plus human being—marketable, polished, and a genuine leader who elevates a locker room.
The only real wild card here has nothing to do with talent and everything to do with Dallas decision-making. General manager Curt Miller has experience coaching couples before, with DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas in Connecticut and, briefly, DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith in Dallas. It’s fair to wonder if he wants his franchise built around Paige Bueckers’ girlfriend and whether there’s any internal bias to avoid that dynamic. But if Dallas is serious about winning, that can’t matter. We know relatively little about potential top pick Awa Fam, and among the names consistently in the top-five conversation, Azzi Fudd is the only choice that combines star upside, floor certainty, and franchise-face qualities.
