The new fab 5

USC could be about to roll out a once-in-a-generation starting five. With JuJu Watkins back to run the show and an infusion of elite wings and a modern big, the 2026–27 Trojans have every ingredient: star power, length, downhill force, and enough shooting to stretch a defense until it snaps. If the chemistry clicks, this isn’t just a title favorite—it’s a team people will talk about for years.

JuJu Watkins — The headliner and tone-setter. She warps defenses with her handle and shot creation, then punishes help with timely reads. When the game tightens, JuJu’s poise and shot-making give USC a closer who never blinks.

Kennedy Smith — The glue with teeth. Smith’s frame and motor let her guard multiple spots, crash the glass, and still slice to the rim in transition. She doesn’t need 20 shots to swing a game; she tilts it with versatility.

Jazzy Davidson — The matchup problem. A long guard with real craft, she can live in the midrange, hit the pull-up, or attack a sloppy closeout. Pair her next to JuJu and you force defenders to choose between a bad switch or an open lane.

Saniyah Hall — The pressure valve. Hall brings a fearless scorer’s mindset and a sturdy build that holds up in Big Ten traffic. When defenses load up on Watkins, Hall’s ability to create her own looks keeps USC’s offense humming.

Sitaya Fagan — The anchor and elevator. Mobile enough to defend in space, strong enough to own the paint, she gives the Trojans vertical spacing on lobs and real rim protection on the other end. Her screening and short-roll touch open clean windows for the guards.

Call them the new Fab Five if you want. Labels aside, this starting group has the talent, balance, and mean streak to chase history—and make the rest of the country chase them.
